THE
PEOPLE'S MILLENNIUM FORESTS : TREES
Hazel,
Coll:
The
hazel tree looks more like a bush than a tree and is common in
hedgerows all over the country. It is well known for producing
the hazelnuts that squirrels love to eat. These nuts are actually
the seed of the tree! Hazel can be coppiced (cut back to its stump)
to produce slender timber poles for use in fencing and wattle
construction.
